Information Sharing between EDs and CSPs to tackle violence
The sharing of de-personalised data regarding violence between Emergency Departments and Community Safety Partnerships has featured both as a Coalition Government commitment, as well as being highlighted in the recent alcohol strategy (published in March). To determine the level of engagement in data sharing, the Department of Health is currently conducting an audit to see whether EDs are collecting and sharing data with local partners. The audit will be vital in helping the Department of Health to determine how far the government has progressed in meeting its commitment, and the extent to which data sharing has become standard practice in EDs.
The audit is available via on an online survey that can be accessed at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/dataevaluation2012nhs

The collection of this data collection has been approved by the Review of
Central Returns Steering Committee (ROCR):  ROCR reference ROCR/OR/2138/FT6/001MAND
If you or a colleague have received the survey but have not filled it in, the Department of Health would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes to complete it. If you want to know more about the survey, you can email Mark Napier at

Academy of Medical Royal Colleges survey on Less Than Full Time working

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Flexible Careers Committee, which comprises representatives from Academy member organisations, seeks to promote a good work life balance for all doctors and specifically to support flexible training and less than full time training. As part of its current work programme the Committee has devised an electronic survey to identify if consultants, SAS doctors  and trainees working less than full time (LTFT) are experiencing difficulties in working LTFT: if so how frequent are these difficulties, what type of difficulties are commonly encountered,  and how (or if) they are resolved.

The committee also hopes to review the additional responsibilities fulfilled by doctors, both FT and LTFT, to try to establish whether or not working LTFT currently restricts the ability to take on additional roles.

They hope to firstly identify, and subsequently quantify, important current issues for LTFT doctors so that we can advise all the Royal Colleges on how best to support their members.

To do this please complete this survey by clicking or copy this link to your web browser - it should only take a few minutes to complete

We are very grateful for your help in completing this survey. The results will be published on the AOMRC Flexible Careers Committee webpage, and will be shared with all the Royal Colleges so may also be reported or published in some of their journals.

ENT UK (through its Education & Training Committee) are currently developing a generic ENT undergraduate curriculum. They invite you to take part in the Undergraduate Curriculum ENT survey to identify the important topics that should be included in the undergraduate ENT curriculum.

This survey is being sent out to by a number of different groups of clinicians that have a stake in ensuring good quality ENT teaching. This includes ENT consultants and SpRs, Emergency Medicine consultants and SpRs, General Practitioners and Paediatricians.

Once the responses are completed they will collate these results and formulate a second questionnaire using only the subject areas considered important. This second questionnaire will then be sent to you a few weeks following this first one. This will enable them to streamline the data so that the topics of most relevance can be recommended for inclusion in an ENT curriculum. Each survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.
