This guidance is for clinicians, managers and commissioners involved in the delivery of Emergency Medicine in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The public may also find the document of interest. It replaces the previous guidance we issued known as ‘The Way Ahead’ in December 2008.
As the pace of change is brisk we will continually refresh this guidance as the service develops. If you identify any content of this document that you feel should be revisited please email the Chief Executive, Gordon Miles, at gordon.miles@collemergencymed.ac.uk so that your comments and suggestions can be considered when developing the next iteration of this Handbook.
When new versions are issued we will indicate what has been amended in the Amendment History at the beginning of the document and advise Members and Fellows accordingly.
Current version: 2.0 (Published 20 December 2011)
CEM Corporate Plan 2012-15
Download CEM Corporate Plan 2012-2015
The College has published a strategic plan outlining aims and objectives for 2012-2015. We have produced it to share our objectives with our stakeholders. For our Members and Fellows it shows where our main priorities lie. Our other stakeholders such as patients, the public, Departments of Health and NHS organisations will also be interested in our priorities.
This plan has been written to explain the key strategic focus of the College in the medium term. As Emergency Medicine continues to develop rapidly our priorities may change from time to time and in these circumstances we will update our strategy.
It covers the period 2012 -2015. We continue to develop rapidly, and have ambitious aims for the next three years. The College of Emergency Medicine delivers a unique body of work, including development of standards, setting and running examinations, providing training and development. Much of this supports and informs the Emergency Medicine healthcare systems in the UK and Ireland.
The College exists to provide a public benefit through its activities for members including educational development, standard setting, improving clinical effectiveness, and providing expert advice and guidance to health policy makers.
