Consultant sign off
CEM standard for senior review prior to discharge ('Consultant Sign-Off')
In December 2010 the College of Emergency Medicine published a new standard for Consultant “sign off” of selected high risk patients being discharged from the Emergency Department. Please read the introductory letter from Jonathan Benger (Chair, Clinical Effectiveness Committee) and John Heyworth (President), which can be found below together with the standard.
We welcome comment and feedback as the new standard is introduced and develops over time. Further refinements will be required, and not all departments will yet be able to achieve this all of the time, particularly in the initial stages. Please e-mail philip.mcmillan@collemergencymed.ac.uk with your comments.
