CEM - ST 4-6

ST 4-6

It is likely that, in the 36 months between ST4 and 6, the EM trainee will rotate through a number of different units. Ideally the trainee should have one ES/tutor during this time, but because of geographic nature of the rotations the trainee may be allocated a 2nd ES. This second ES would be responsible for setting educational objective during the period of attachment and forwarding the results of WPBA to the primary ES who will complete the STR for annual review.

All trainees would be expected to have at least three appraisal meetings (or more frequently if any problems are identified) at the beginning, middle and end of the year. There will be one STR and one ARCP panel per year.

During the 36 months each trainee would be expected to complete at least 30 WPBA’s from the list of clinical conditions. These should be completed in the first 30 months, using the last 6/12 for examination preparation and focusing on any deficiencies prior to CCT. All assessments at ST4-6 level must be completed by an EM Consultant or Associate specialist.

SAS doctors

The College suggests that SAS doctors use the tools on this and other WPBA sections for their own practice. These documents can be usefully downloaded and stored in the portfolio, particularly if SAS doctors are anticipating applying for CESR.
